The Recreation Department is under the
direction of Councilman Lawrence. J. Lonergan and is a non-profit service agency
for PASD citizens.

2001 Summer Playground
Information
- Program Length
6 weeks, Monday through Friday - 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
June 18 to July 27, 2001.
- Ages of Children
Supervised activities are provided for children ages 6 to
13.
Younger children must attend with a parent or mature
caretaker.
- Activities
Games, arts & crafts, walking trips, and other
activities.
- Lunch Program
Lunch will be provided free to children 18 years and
younger.
This program is federally funded and monitored - children must
eat on site.
- Supervisors
Two instructors (age 16 and older) will be provided
per site.
This program is not intended as a caretaking service. The
instructors are on site to provide activities and fun for
the children.
Children are free to attend and leave at any time.
Discipline
A child may be asked to leave for inappropriate
behavior. Rules established by the leaders will be adhered
to in a fair and consistent manner.
**Lunches are served at the following locations: Eastside
(Joulwan Park), Bunker Hill, Rotary (Yorkville), Race
Street, Mt. Hope, Jalappa, Greenwood Hill, Forest Hills,
Fairmound Avenue, Arch Street, Peacock Street Projects,
Second Street Projects, John O'Hara Housing Projects.
**Restroom and water facilities are not provides at
sites.
**The playground and lunch program is free, non-profit,
and nondiscriminatory. It is intended to provide fun
activities for Pottsville Area School District children.
**Rain cancellations announced on local radio stations.

school or has early dismissal, recreational programs are automatically
cancelled for that evening.
